Be a Partner with the Pennsbury Arts Foundation
Studies have shown that children who participate in and experience the Arts are more successful. This excerpt from a pamphlet published by the National Endowment for the Arts supports placing the Arts high on the educational agenda.
"To achieve their full potential as human beings, children need an education in the arts. As part of the heritage of our culture, the arts are forms of understanding that are fundamental to what it means to be an educated person. They are the richest and most far-reaching expressions of human creativity, achievement, and communication--from people to people, culture to culture, and age to age. The arts are indispensable ... for four important reasons:
- 1st, the arts engage students in learning in a variety of ways that enable them to develop many areas of intelligence ...
- 2nd, research shows clearly that the arts help children build both basic and advanced thinking skills ... and problem-solving skills.... These are essential for lifelong learning, responsible citizenship.
- 3rd, the arts reach students who are otherwise disempowered and disenfranchised by providing diverse routes to academic and personal achievement. They enhance self-discipline, hard work, and perseverance ...
- 4th, the arts help students build solid connections with other academic areas ... they promote cross-cultural and interdisciplinary learning."
So, would you like to know how you can help bring the Arts to Pennsbury students? Here are just a few ideas:
- Get involved—its fun! Volunteer to join a committee or assist other PAFers at an event or fundraiser. To let us know you're interested, call us at 215-428-4175, or you can just E-mail Us.
- Support PAF fundraisers! When you hear about an event, come on out, and have some fun while be supporting the Arts and Pennsbury students at the same time.
- Send in a donation! All donations to the PAF are fully tax-deductible, according to the tax laws governing 501 (c) (3) nonprofit organizations. A donation to the PAF is a great way to honor a loved one for a birthday or as a lasting memorial. To donate to the Pennsbury Arts Foundation, just go to the Pledge Form, then print it out and mail it to the address shown on the form.
- Tell others about us! Tell them about our Web site, the grants programs we've funded, and the hundreds of Pennsbury students and teachers that have already benefited from grants awarded by the Pennsbury Arts Foundation.
